In character, there are certain laws your character has to follow. For example:
CURFEW
All uncured minors have to be home be 9:00. Cured can stay out as late as the want, though most do go to bed at a reasonable hour. Curfew is enforced.
Most underground parties take place after (sometimes long after) curfew.
RAIDS
Raids are night when the government (or, usually, the DFA) search for law breakers, root out invalids, and so on. They are fairly common and often brutal. Raiders are known to set dogs on or clubbing (or both) those not complying with them. Horror stories about treatment on raid nights circulate around, even among cured who usually don't gossip.
SEGREGATION
This means that uncured minors are kept separate by sex. There are separate school for boys and girls, and if two uncureds of the opposite sex are found together, the DFA will not be pleased. In fact, that sort of behaviour is a great way to get yourself an early, emergency cure.
